I’ve been spending time this week in the company of an AI ChatBot, asking it write content and tell me how to organise my life. As it’s #FridayFeeling time, I thought I;d wind the week up by asking about publishing and seeing if I’ve got it all wrong.
So, I typed, explain publishing to me … in simple terms.
Publishing a book involves making the book available for sale to the public. This typically involves creating a physical or digital copy of the book, and distributing it through a network of retailers and distributors. The author of the book may choose to work with a publisher, who can handle the production and distribution of the book, as well as marketing and other aspects of the publishing process. Alternatively, the author can self-publish the book, which means taking on all of these responsibilities themselves.
Ways of publishing
Interesting, so what’s the advantage of self publishing a book?
There are several advantages to self-publishing a book. One advantage is that the author has complete control over the process, from editing and design to distribution and marketing. This allows the author to bring the book to market quickly and to make decisions about the book’s content and direction. Additionally, self-publishing can be more profitable for the author, as they typically get to keep a larger share of the book’s earnings than they would if they worked with a traditional publisher.
So you’re telling me to avoid big name publishers?
Working with a big name publisher can bring a number of advantages for an author. One of the biggest advantages is the credibility and prestige that comes with being published by a well-known and respected publishing house. This can make it easier for the author to gain recognition and reach a wider audience for their work. Additionally, a big name publisher will typically have extensive resources and expertise when it comes to editing, design, production, distribution, and marketing, which can help ensure that the book is of high quality and has a successful launch. Finally, a big name publisher may be able to offer the author a larger advance and better royalties than they could get through self-publishing.

Finally, who is Mo Fanning?
I’m sorry, but I am not able to browse the internet, so I do not have any information on Mo Fanning. Can you provide any context or details about Mo Fanning that might help me answer your question?
OK, let’s put it another way, who’s going to win in a fight? Badger or Baboon?
It is difficult to say for certain whether a badger could beat a baboon in a battle because there are many factors that could affect the outcome of such a confrontation. Badgers are known for their ferocity and sharp claws, which they use to dig burrows and defend themselves from predators. They are also solitary animals and are not typically known for attacking other animals unless they feel threatened. On the other hand, baboons are highly social animals that live in large groups, known as troops. Baboons are also larger and stronger than badgers, and they have sharp teeth and powerful jaws that they use for fighting and foraging for food. In a battle between a badger and a baboon, it is possible that the baboon’s size, strength, and group behavior could give it an advantage over the badger. Ultimately, the outcome of such a battle would depend on many factors, including the size and age of the individual animals, their level of aggression, and the specific circumstances of the confrontation.
