It’s publication day for my new book ‘Ghosted’, and I couldn’t be more excited/nervous/proud I made it this far.
‘Ghosted’ has been available on pre-order for a month or so, and I’ve been peering around the curtains of the sales figures, holding my breath just in case I see a big fat zero! Thankfully, that’s not happened – and to all those people in France who pre-ordered the paperback, thanks. I’ve never sold many books there, so it’s been quite a surprise! One other thing I learned, Americans like paperbacks over ebooks. It’s been a revelation.
I did it!
So, today is the day. The day I can sit back, gasp and think OMG! I did it, I wrote another book! I didn’t think I could do it, but I did!
Writing Ghosted was a bit of a challenge. It almost didn’t happen. I hit a wall with various early drafts and had to scrap what I’d written several times. I’d always been happy with previous first chapters, so I’m not sure why I wasn’t able to get the flow of this one. I guess, I wanted it to be perfect, or something. Apparently, that’s unrealistic. I’m almost embarrassed to admit how long it took me to write this book.
Help!
With the help of a Cornerstones Consultancy course, tutors and editors that know how to nag me just right and beta readers who assured me things were better than I thought, the story came together.
I can’t tell you how relieved I am that it’s finally done. I’ll hold my breath a bit longer, I think, and see how the book is received before I go full-on party!
